28, 2006 COLLEGEVILLE, PA - Sophomore Megan Morse (Easton, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul) won a pair of individual events as visiting Washington College defeated host Ursinus College, 130-72, in a Centennial Conference women's swim meet this afternoon in Collegeville, PA. Washington improved to 7-3 overall and 2-3 in the Centennial with the win. Morse won the 50 freestyle in 25.54 and the 500 freestyle in a WC season-best time of 5:26.83. Junior Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel), junior Ally Simons (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley), junior Liz Shoemaker (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga), and freshman Andrea Cole (Felton, DE/Caesar Rodney) each won one individual event. Jones won the 1000 freestyle in 11:23.83, Shoemaker took the 100 backstroke in a WC season-best time of 1:02.32, Simons won the 400 individual medley in a WC season-best time of 4:55.25, and Cole won the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.78. Jones and Shoemaker each also finished second in one event, Jones in the 500 freestyle (5:38.73) and Shoemaker in the 200 freestyle (2:03.67). Junior Kimmy Kraeer (Denton, MD/North Caroline) and freshman Cara Choplin (West Deptford, NJ/Bishop Eustace) both captured two second-place finishes. Kraeer was second in the 50 freestyle (26.78) and the 100 freestyle (57.85), while Choplin was second in the 1000 freestyle (11:54.26) and the 100 butterfly (1:08.37). Freshman Brittany Siburt (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) was second in the 400 individual medley (5:10.24), junior Caitlin Auger (McLean, VA/McLean) was second in the 100 backstroke (1:07.04), and Ludwig was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.58). Shoemaker, Morse, Simons, and Kraeer won the 200 medley relay in 1:57.77. Washington returns to action one week from today with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet at McDaniel.
