Morse Breaks Pool Record in Win
Shorewomen Down Seahawks, 136-69

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Sophomore Megan Morse (Easton, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul) broke the pool record in the 100 freestyle and juniors Liz Shoemaker (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) and Ally Simons (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) each won two individual events as the host Washington College women's swimming team defeated visiting St. Mary's (MD), 136-69, this afternoon at Casey Swim Center. The Shorewomen improved to 2-1 with the win, while the Seahawks fell to 3-3 with the loss.

Morse swam a 54.46 to win the 100 freestyle, break the pool record, and become Washington's second-fastest swimmer ever in that event. Liz Shoemaker won the 200 freestyle in 2:04.74 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.79, while Simons finished first in the 200 individual medley in 2:20.21 and in the 500 freestyle in 5:39.93. Freshman Andrea Cole (Felton, DE/Caesar Rodney) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.29, while freshman Brittany Siburt (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) won the 1000 freestyle in 11:32.04 and finished second in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.01.

Junior Kimmy Kraeer (Denton, MD/North Caroline) and sophomore Nicole Ludwig (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) each finished second in two events. Kraeer was second in the 50 freestyle (26.23) and in the 100 freestyle (58.45), while Ludwig was second in the 200 individual medley (2:22.00) and in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.89). Junior Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel) finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:41.60) and third in the 1000 freestyle (11:39.76). Sophomore Nicole Stanton (Columbia, MD/Hammond) was second in the 200 freestyle (2:07.74), while freshman Kimber Shoemaker (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:07.40).

Liz Shoemaker, Cole, Simons, and Morse won the 200 medley relay in 1:55.37, while Kraeer, Jones, junior Kelsey Pont (Ellington, CT/Ellington), and Kimber Shoemaker were second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:51.15.

The Shorewomen return to action next Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home meet against Franklin & Marshall.
