Washington Defeats McDaniel, 63-32
Shoemaker and Simons Each Win Two Individual Events

WESTMINSTER, MD - Juniors Liz Shoemaker (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) and Ally Simons (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) each recorded two individual first place finishes as Washington College defeated McDaniel College, 63-32, in Centennial Conference women's swimming this afternoon. The Shorewomen improved to 8-3 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference with the win, while the Green Terror slipped to 5-6 and 3-4 with the loss.

Liz Shoemaker finished first in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke in 2:04.44 and 1:02.54, respectively. Simons recorded her first place finishes in the 100 butterfly and in the 200 individual medley in 1:03.21 and 2:15.74, respectively. Her time in the 200 individual medley was a WC season-best.

Junior Caitlin Auger (McLean, VA/McLean) recorded one individual first and second place finish. Auger won the 50 freestyle in 26.62, and took second in the 100 freestyle in 57.67.

Sophomore Megan Morse (Easton, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul) recorded a first place finish in the 500 freestyle in a WC season-best time of 5:25.21. That time also made her WC's ninth-fastest swimmer all-time in the 500 freestyle.

Junior Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel) finished second in the 1,000 freestyle in a WC season-best time of 11:22.39, while sophomore Nicole Ludwig (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) placed second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.04.

The team of Liz Shoemaker, Ludwig, Simons and Morse placed first in the 200 medley relay in 1:56.71.

The Shorewomen will compete in their final dual meet of the season Wednesday at home against Swarthmore at 6:30 p.m.
