Shorewomen Top Ursinus, 122-83
Klag Wins Two Individual Events

COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The Washington College women's swim team improved to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial Conference with a 122-83 win over Ursinus this afternoon in Collegeville, PA. The Shorewomen took first place in seven of the 11 events in the meet.

Senior Margaret Klag (Silver Spring, MD/Sherwood) won two individual events. She took first place in the 100 freestyle in a lifetime-best time of 56.28 and also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.62. Freshman Ally Simons (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.32, making her WC's fifth-fastest swimmer ever in that event, while freshman Liz Shoemaker (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) finished first in the 200 freestyle in 2:03.79, becoming Washington's 10th-fastest swimmer ever in that event.

Sophomore Chrissy Romano (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) won the 1000 freestyle in 11:45.88, while freshman Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel) won the 500 freestyle in 5:31.65. The quartet of Shoemaker, Klag, junior Ana Prado (Ferrol, Spain/Tirso), and Simons won the 200 medley relay in 1:54.45.

Senior Carolyn Myers (Lititz, PA/Linden Hall School for Girls) accounted for two of Washington's six second-place finishes in individual events. She was second in both the 400 individual medley and the 500 freestyle in 5:03.93 and 5:34.19, respectively. Shoemaker was second in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.60, Simons was second in the 50 freestyle in 25.96, and Prado was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.16. Freshman Sidra Carman (Silver Spring, MD/Albert Einstein) added a second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle in 12:15.13.

The Shorewomen are back in action one week from today with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home meet against Franklin & Marshall.
