22, 2003 CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Washington College women's swim team lost to visiting Franklin & Marshall, 123-82, in a Centennial Conference meet this afternoon at Casey Swim Center. The Shorewomen slipped to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference with the loss, while the Diplomats remained unbeaten at 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference. Freshman Ally Simons (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) notched a pair of first-place finishes for the Shorewomen. She won the 50 freestyle in 25.59 and the 100 freestyle in 56.36. Her time in the 50 made her WC's fourth-fastest swimmer ever in that event. Freshman Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel) and senior Margaret Klag (Silver Spring, MD/Sherwood) each won one event. Jones captured the 1000 freestyle in 11:10.43, while Klag won the 200 freestyle in 2:02.37. Klag's time in the 200 freestyle made her WC's sixth-fastest swimmer ever in that event. Klag also finished second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:30.54. Junior Ana Prado (Ferrol, Spain/Tirso) was second in the 200 butterfly in 2:19.91. The Shorewomen return to action December 6th with a 1:00 p.m. meet at Elizabethtown. |
