Shorewomen Down Widener
Win is Third in a Row for WC

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Junior Margaret Klag (Silver Spring, MD/Sherwood) and senior Pamela Vasquez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Delcampo Institute) each won two individual events and swam to two WC season-best times to lead the the Washington College women's swim team past visiting Widener, 128-76, in a non-conference meet this evening at Casey Swim Center. The Shorewomen improved to 3-1 with their third straight win.

Klag finished first in the 200 breaststroke in a WC season-best time of 2:31.23 and in the 100 freestyle in 57.74. She also posted a WC season-best time of 26.09 in the 50 freestyle, which she swam as an exhibition. Vasquez posted her two WC season-best times in her two victories - the 200 freestyle (1:59.42) and the 200 backstroke (2:18.72).

Sophomores Ana Prado (La Coruda, Spain/Tirso) and Emily Rawson (Derwood, MD/Montgomery) and senior Stacy Sines (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant) each won one individual event. Prado won the 50 freestyle in 26.23, Rawson won the 200 butterfly in a WC season-best time of 2:13.57, and Sines won the 500 freestyle in 5:26.10.

The Shorewomen also captured six individual second-place finishes. Senior Rebecca Sirman (Westminster, MD/North Carroll) was second in both the 200 individual medley (2:23.33) and the 200 backstroke (2:19.07). Junior Carolyn Myers (Lititz, PA/Linden Hall School for Girls) was second in the 1000 freestyle in 11:22.17, while freshman Ana Thomas (New Smyrna Beach, FL/Spruce Creek) was second in the 100 freestyle in 58.03. Senior Sara Hardy (Birchrunville, PA/Owen J. Roberts) finished second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:41.21 and Sines finished second in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.79.

Both Washington relays swam to season-best times. The 200 medley relay team of Prado, Klag, senior Julie Meirs (Cream Ridge, NJ/Peddie), and Thomas finished first in 1:56.86, while the 200 freestyle relay team of Sines, Rawson, Sirman, and Vasquez finished second in 1:48.67.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet at Franklin & Marshall.
