8, 2003 CHESTERTOWN, MD - Junior Margaret Klag (Silver Spring, MD/Sherwood) won two individual events and swam to an NCAA B Cut time in the 200 breaststroke as host Washington College topped McDaniel, 148-49, in Centennial Conference swim action this afternoon at Casey Swim Center. The Shorewomen improved to 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the conference with the win. Klag's B Cut time was good for first place and was a WC season-best performance of 2:28.29. She also won the 50 freestyle in 26.02. Senior Pamela Vasquez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Delcampo Institute) took first place in the 500 freestyle in a WC season-best time of 5:11.52 and in the 1000 freestyle in 10:59.09. Senior Rebecca Sirman (Westminster, MD/North Carroll) won the 200 individual medley in 2:18.55 and the 200 backstroke in a WC season-best time of 2:17.21. Senior Stacy Sines (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant) won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.32 and was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:16.48. Senior Julie Meirs (Cream Ridge, NJ/Peddie) was first in the 200 butterfly in 2:12.09. Sophomore Ana Prado (La Coruna, Spain/Tirso) finished second in both the 50 freestyle (26.37) and the 200 butterfly (2:15.79). Senior Heather Reader (Chadds Ford, PA/Garnet Valley) was second in the 1000 freestyle in 12:15.02, senior Sara Hardy (Birchrunville, PA/Owen J. Roberts) was second in the 200 individual medley in 2:22.23, and freshman Chrissy Romano (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) was second in the 200 backstroke in 2:18.30 Freshman Ana Thomas (New Smyrna Beach, FL/Spruce Creek) was the Shorewomen's top finisher in the 100 freestyle, finishing second in 58.93. Prado, Klag, Meirs, and Thomas won the 400 medley relay in 4:12.06 and Sines, Sirman, Rawson, and Vasquez won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:53.86. Washington competes in its final dual meet of the season Wednesday at Swarthmore at 6:00 p.m. |
