Klag Swims to NCAA B Cut Time in Win
Shorewomen Down Gophers, 140-59

TOWSON, MD - An NCAA B Cut time by junior Margaret Klag (Silver Spring, MD/Sherwood) in the 100 breaststroke highlighted a 140-59 win by the Washington College Shorewomen over host Goucher in women's swimming action this afternoon. Klag swam a WC season-best time of 1:08.23 in the event for the Shorewomen (6-2).

Klag also took first place in the 100 freestyle in 56.63. Senior Pamela Vasquez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Delcampo Institute) added two first-place finishes, winning the 500 freestyle in a WC season-best time of 5:16.34 and the 200 individual medley in 2:20.63.

Seniors Julie Meirs (Cream Ridge, NJ/Peddie) and Stacy Sines (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant), junior Carolyn Myers (Lititz, PA/Linden Hall School for Girls), and sophomore Ana Prado (La Coruda, Spain/Tirso) each had one first-place finish. Meirs won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.72, Sines the 200 freestyle in 1:58.39, Myers the 1000 freestyle in 11:24.17, and Prado the 50 freestyle in 26.06.

Freshman Ana Thomas (New Smyrna Beach, FL/Spruce Creek) finished second in both the 50 freestyle (26.96) and the 100 freestyle (58.70). Senior Rebecca Sirman (Westminster, MD/North Carroll), freshman Chrissy Romano (Westfield, NJ/Westfield), junior Colleen M. Costello (Exeter, RI/Exeter-West Greenwich Regional), Prado, and Sines each captured one individual second-place finish. Sirman finished second in the 1000 freestyle (11:35.20), Romano in the 100 backstroke (1:07.12), Costello in the 200 freestyle (2:11.43), Prado in the 100 butterfly (1:02.01), and Sines in the 500 freestyle (5:17.13).

The Shorewomen also won the 200 medley relay. Prado, Klag, Meirs, and Vasquez finished in 1:57.28.

The Shorewomen return to action a week from today with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet at Dickinson.
