Shorewomen Roll Past Elizabethtown
Four Swimmers Win Two Events Each

CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Washington College Shorewomen won every event and posted a 151-54 non-conference win over visiting Elizabethtown this evening to improve to 5-2 overall this season. Seniors Stacy Sines (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant) and Pamela Vasquez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Delcampo Institute), junior Margaret Klag (Silver Spring, MD/Sherwood), and sophomore Ana Prado (La Coruda, Spain/Tirso) each won two individual events for the Shorewomen.

Vasquez won the 1000 freestyle in a season-best time of 10:54.13 and the 200 freestyle in 2:05.04. Klag narrowly missed an NCAA B Cut time in the 200 breaststroke, winning the event in a season-best 2:29.03, and also won the 100 freestyle in 56.81. Prado swam a season-best time in the 200 backstroke, winning in 2:17.53, and also took first place in the 50 freestyle in 26.61. Sines won the 200 individual medley in 2:18.87 and the 500 freestyle in 5:18.19. The Shorewomen's other individual first-place finish was turned in by senior Julie Meirs (Cream Ridge, NJ/Peddie), who won the 200 butterfly in 2:13.95.

Junior Carolyn Myers (Lititz, PA/Linden Hall School for Girls) took second place in the 200 freestyle in a season-best time of 2:06.78 and in the 1000 freestyle in 11:23.03. Senior Rebecca Sirman (Westminster, MD/North Carroll), freshman Chrissy Romano (Westfield, NJ/Westfield), freshman Ana Thomas (New Smyrna Beach, FL/Spruce Creek), and sophomore Emily Rawson (Derwood, MD/Montgomery) each swam to one second-place finish. Sirman swam a lifetime-best time of 5:25.11 in the 500 freestyle, Romano swam a lifetime-best time of 2:19.32 in the 200 backstroke, Thomas was second in the 100 freestyle in 58.35, and Rawson was second in the 200 butterfly in 2:20.18.

Two other individual lifetime-bests were turned in by the Shorewomen; junior Eileen Kasda (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) was fourth in the 200 backstroke in 2:27.02 and senior Heather Reader (Chadds Ford, PA/Garnet Valley) was fifth in the 500 freestyle in 5:59.58.

In the relay events, Sirman, Klag, Meirs, and Prado won the 200 medley in 1:56.81, while Sines, Thomas, Sirman, and senior Sara Hardy (Birchrunville, PA/Owen J. Roberts) won the 200 freestyle in 1:48.75.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. meet at Goucher.
