WC Enters Break Unbeaten at 7-0
Shorewomen Win at Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, PA - Swimming for the second time in less than 48 hours, the Washington College Shorewomen ensured an undefeated dual meet record heading into winter break with a 139-66 win at Centennial Conference rival Bryn Mawr this afternoon. The Shorewomen (7-0, 4-0 Centennial) won ten of the 11 events in the meet.

The one event Washington did not win jumped out of the scoresheet. The Shorewomen entered today's meet having finished first in their last 52 races they had entered for scoring in dual meets. They stretched that streak to 54 after this afternoon's first two events. In the next event, the 200 freestyle, freshman Emily Rawson (Derwood, MD/Richard Montgomery) was edged out by Bryn Mawr's Kelly Radimer for first place. Radimer finished in 2:04.16, while Rawson, WC's fifth-fastest swimmer in the event this season, touched the wall at 2:04.57 for second place. The Shorewomen last failed to finish first in a dual meet race they had entered for scoring in a season-opening win over Gettysburg way back on November 3.

Junior Pam Vasquez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Delcampo Institute), freshman Samantha Shaffer (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown), and junior Sarah Cooper (Wilmington, DE/Tatnall), each won two events for the Shorewomen. Vasquez won the 1000 freestyle in 11:16.99 and the 500 freestyle in 5:34.23. Shaffer captured the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.83 and the 50 freestyle in 26.89. Cooper finished first in the 100 freestyle in 57.12 and the 200 individual medley in 2:20.28.

Junior Julie Meirs (Cream Ridge, NJ/Peddie) won the 100 butterfly in 1:03.45 and freshman Ana Prado (La Coruda, Spain/Tirso) won the 100 backstroke in 1:05.47 to account for WC's two other individual wins.

Prado, Klag, Rawson, and Shaffer finished first in the 200 medley relay in 1:58.55 to open the meet and Cooper, Vasquez, sophomore Lindsey Summers (Salisbury, MD/Parkside), and junior Sara Hardy (Birchrunville, PA/Owen J. Roberts) won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:48.04 to end the meet.

The Shorewomen are off until January 15th when they travel to Elizabethtown for a 6:00 p.m. meet.
