Fords Take Two from Shorewomen
Snover Has Pair of Hits in Second Game

HAVERFORD, PA -- Host Haverford College swept both ends of a Centennial Conference softball double-header against visiting Washington College this afternoon in Haverford, PA. The Fords won game one, 5-1, and took game two, 8-0, in six innings. Haverford improved to 11-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play on the season, while the Shorewomen fell to 8-9 and 0-4.

In game one, the Fords got all of their runs in the first two innings, plating three runs in the first inning and two in the second. Washington got on the board in the seventh inning senior pitcher Emily Adams (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) hit an RBI single.

Candice Smith went 3-for-4 with a run scored in the opener for the Fords, while Natalie Richman was 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored and Cassandra Searls went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Lisa Karmel got the win for the Fords, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six batters in seven innings.

In game two, Haverford scored three runs in the second, one in the third, one in the fifth, and then three in the sixth. Richman went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBI, and a run scored. Dana Irshay was 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Beth Davis was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Becky Garibotto picked up the win in the second game, allowing no runs on five hits and a walk while striking out three batters.

Freshman third baseman Sally Snover (Charlotte, NC/Myers Park) went 2-for-3 in the second game for the Shorewomen.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference double-header at Muhlenberg.
