2009 GETTYSBURG, PA -- Host Gettysburg College topped visiting Washington College, 2-1, in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game this afternoon in Gettysburg, PA. The Bullets improved to 8-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play with the win, while the loss dropped the Shorewomen to 5-7-1 and 1-5. Casey Attanasio put the Bullets on the board at 10:06 when she scored on a rebounded shot from Tara Gaston. Gettysburg, which held a 21-0 advantage in shots in the first half, would not score again until the second half when Kelly Vigna scored on a rebounded shot from Attanasio at 48:47. The Shorewomen scored at the 85:54 mark when freshman Katie Bradley (Forest Hill, MD/Fallston) headed in her first collegiate goal off a corner kick from sophomore Stephanie Willingham (Carroll County, MD/South Carroll). The Bullets finished with a 32-2 advantage in shots for the game and a 9-2 margin in corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) made nine saves in the loss for Washington. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Haverford. |
