2009 RADNOR, PA -- Host Cabrini College scored a pair of second-half goals to post a 2-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over visiting Washington College this afternoon in Radnor, PA. The Cavaliers improved to 6-5-1 with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 5-4-1 with the loss. Cabrini held an 11-2 advantage in shots in a scoreless first half. The Shorewomen continued to hold the Cavaliers off the board until Sammy Thompson netted a goal from 25 yards out at 71:40 to give Cabrini the lead. Thompson's goal came on Cabrini's 17th shot of the game. Kara Hinkelmon headed in an insurance goal for the Cavaliers at 82:33. Sophomore goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) made 11 saves in the loss for the Shorewomen. Maddy Edwards made four stops for Cabrini in the win. Cabrini held a 20-5 advantage in shots in
the game and an 8-5 edge in corner kicks. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Muhlenberg. |
