Bears Top Shorewomen, 4-0
Grier Records 300th Career Save in Loss

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Ursinus College defeated host Washington College, 4-0, in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Bears improved to 5-6-1 overall and 4-2 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen dropped to 1-11 and 0-5 with the loss.

Ursinus opened the scoring at 16:14 when Jess Porcelan headed in a corner kick from Megan Asciano to make it 1-0. The Bears' second goal also came on a header, this one by Emily Diehl off an assist from Bridget Winn at 36:31.

The Bears made it three-for-three for header goals when a corner kick from Asciano was headed in by Monica Oliveto at 57:00 to push the lead to 3-0. Jess Gunzelman tallied the Bears' only non-header goal when she booted in a ball after receiving a long pass from Winn at 64:43.

Junior goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made 11 saves in the loss for Washington. Her fifth save of the game was the 300th of her collegiate career. Lisa Clark made three saves for Ursinus. The Bears held a 23-9 advantage in shots and a 12-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Muhlenberg.
