2008 HAVERFORD, PA -- Host Haverford College scored three times in the first half en route to a 4-0 Centennial Conference women's soccer victory over visiting Washington College this afternoon in Haverford, PA. The Fords improved to 7-8 overall and 4-3 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 1-13 and 0-7 with the loss. Michele Buonora netted the Fords' first goal 2:48 into the contest off a cross from Annie Turner and Katie Van Aken made it 2-0 at 6:06 when she scored off a pass from Erin Dowling. Buonora netted her second goal of the game at 43:04 and completed her hat trick with the only goal of the second half, netting the tally at 62:11. Haverford held a 27-0 advantage in shots and a 10-1 edge in corner kicks in the game. Washington junior goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made seven saves in the loss for Washington. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at McDaniel. |
