1, 2008 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Dickinson College downed host Washington College, 7-0, to earn a Centennial Conference women's soccer victory over host Washington College in the regular-season finale for both teams. The Red Devils, who wrapped up the second seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament with the win, improved to 11-3-3 overall and 7-2-1 in conference play with the win. The Shorewomen close out their season 1-16 overall and 0-10 in conference play. Genevieve Olson opened the scoring for Dickinson at 30:25 when she received a pass from Sara White and went straight to the goal. The Red Devils took a 2-0 lead on a shot from Sarah Montminy that went off the post and into the goal at 37:25. Olsen tacked on her second goal of the game at 52:30 when she sent a ball into the opposite corner. Ashley Kunkle made it 4-0 with a goal off a pass from Tory Bratt at 61:49. The Red Devils tacked on their fifth goal when Emily Pease headed in a goal off an assist from Molly Schaefer. Mary-Ellen Beattie notched Dickinson's sixth goal off an assist from Pease. Schaefer made it 7-0 with a goal at 85:30. Kailyn Hartmann played the first 67:19 in goal for Dickinson and made one save. Sarah Wright played the remainder of the game for the Red Devils and made two saves. Freshman goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) started the game for Washington, making six saves and allowing four goals in 69:26. Freshman Mallory Kahn-Johnston (Bethel, CT/Wooster School) went the rest of the way, making five saves and allowing three goals. Dickinson held a 27-4 advantage in shots in the game. |
