10, 2007 COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Ursinus netted three goals in the first 7:02 to take control early as the Bears downed visiting Washington College, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Wilkes Field in Centennial Conference women's soccer action. Ursinus (8-3-2, 5-0-1 CC) jumped out to a lead 67 seconds into the contest when Jess Gunzelman took a feed from Sarah Gardner and slipped it in the left post past sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School (DE)). The Bears expanded the lead to 3-0 with two goals in 97 seconds. Alex Shivers made it 2-0 at 5:25 when she scored from the top of the box on the right side and Caroline Diehl made it 3-0 on a pass from Gunzelman. Leigh Voss and Megan Ascanio rounded out the first half scoring. The Bears added two goals in the second half for the final margin. Elaine DiFeliciantonio and Megan Ascanio provided the second-half scoring. Ursinus outshot Washington (1-12, 0-5 Centennial), 28-9. Grier had five saves for the Shorewomen, while Lisa Clark had five saves and a shutout for the Bears. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Gettysburg. |
