#19 Hopkins Handles Shorewomen, 9-0
Grier Makes Career-High 18 Saves in Loss

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Kim Lane scored three goals and assisted on four others as visiting 19th-ranked Johns Hopkins bested host Washington College, 9-0, in the Centennial Conference women's soccer opener for both schools this evening on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Blue Jays improved to 4-1-1 overall with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 0-6 with the loss.

Molly Steele joined Lane as a multiple-goal scorer for the Blue Jays, finishing with a pair. Lisa Irizarry, Johanna Chapin, Cassandra Vogel, and Kate Dunn each scored a goal for Hopkins.

Hopkins held a 3-0 lead at halftime and outshot the Shorewomen, 42-3, in the game. The Blue Jays also had all six corner kicks in the game.

Karen Guszkowski played the first half in goal for Hopkins and did not face a shot. Jessica Cynowiec played the next 20:24, making one save, while Naomi Sell played the rest of the game in goal for the Blue Jays and made two saves. Sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made a career-high 18 saves in the loss for the Shorewomen.

The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference home game against Division II Wilmington (DE) College.
