23, 2007 LANCASTER, PA -- Kathryn Daniels had a goal and an assist as host Franklin & Marshall College defeated visiting Washington College, 5-0, in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game Sunday at North Campus Athletic Field. The Diplomats improved to 4-2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 0-8 and 0-2. Daniels got the hosts on the board at the 25:34 mark when she took a pass from Sarah George and took a shot from the right side for her first goal of the season. George set up the play by stealing a Shorewomen clearing attempt. Shannon Summers made it 2-0 Diplomats with 76 seconds left in the opening half when her shot went through the hands of sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE). In the second half, Amy Cawley took a Daniels pass and netted her second goal of the season to make it 3-0 in the 58th minute. Brittany Easter scored on a Kelsey Tylus pass at 72:41 and the Diplomats rounded out the scoring on a penalty kick by Danielle David at 78:07. Erin Roy had zero saves in the shutout for F&M, while Grier had five saves in the loss for the Shorewomen. F&M held a 18-1 advantage in shots and an 4-0 edge in corner kicks in the game. Washington returns to action on Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Swarthmore. |
