23, 2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Bryn Mawr scored the only goal of the game in the fifth minute of a 1-0 win over host Washington College in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Owls improved to 5-11-1 overall and 1-9 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 1-16 and 0-9 with the loss. Laura Costanzo put the Owls on the board at 4:57 with the only goal of the game when she stole a pass near midfield and scored an unassisted goal on the resulting breakaway. Washington's last quality scoring chance came at 85:28 when senior forward Megan Russell (Federalsburg, MD/Seaford Christian, DE) took a shot that Bryn Mawr goalie Collette Pullion dove to save in the left-hand corner of the goal. Bryn Mawr held a 17-12 advantage in shots in the game. Each team recorded two corner kicks. Pullion made six saves for the Owls, while sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School (DE)) made 11 stops for Washington. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with their season finale - a 2:30 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Dickinson. |
