2009 PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The 15th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team competed in a regatta against Philadelphia University, the second-ranked team in Division II, Dowling, the fifth-ranked team in Division II, and Division I Villanova today in Philadelphia, PA. The Shorewomen's varsity four finished first in its four-boat race. Washington's varsity four finished in 4:31.5 in a 1,500-meter race with the current. Villanova was second in 4:32.6, Philadelphia was third in 4:40.3, and Dowling was fourth in 4:49.0. The varsity eight and second varsity eight races were also shortened to 1,500 meters but went against the current. Philadelphia won the varsity eight in 8:37.7 with the Shorewomen finishing second in 8:40.9. Philadelphia also won the second varsity eight in 8:49.3. Villanova was second in 9:16.5 and Washington was third in 9:55.7. Junior Krista Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's first varsity eight. Junior Ericka Malow (Brunswick, OH/Brunswick) sat stroke, senior Jenna Lapointe (Newark, DE/Newark) was in the seven seat, sophomore Sarah Holland (Towson, MD/Notre Dame Prep) was in the six seat, junior Amy Smith (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) sat in the five seat, junior Emily Hofler (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) was in the four seat, freshman Kendall Mulligan (Southbury, CT/Westover School) sat in the three seat, senior Nicole Rousseau (Burlington, CT/Miss Porter's School) was in the two seat, and junior Caroline Perry (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) was the bow. Sophomore Susanne Vaughn (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) was the coxswain for the Shorewomen's second first varsity eight. Sophomore Catherine Black (Kimberton, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) sat stroke, sophomore Christine Lynch (Lincoln University, PA/Avon Grove) was in the seven seat, freshman Diane Hagmann (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) sat in the six seat, freshman Ellen Liebenow (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) was in the five seat, freshman Jenna Moore (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) sat in the four seat, freshman Sarah Ruh (New Preston, CT/Kent School) was in the three seat, sophomore Robin Heese (Baltimore, MD/Maryvale Prep) sat in the two seat, and junior Sarah Strickland (Potomac, MD/Holton-Arms)was the bow. Vaughn was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's varsity four. Malow sat stroke, Smith was in the three seat, Hofler was in the two seat, and Perry was the bow. The Shorewomen return to action Friday and Saturday at the Knecht Cup in Cherry Hill, NJ. |
