Both Varsity Eights are Winners at Knecht Cup
Shorewomen Win Key Races at Two-Day Regatta

CHERRY HILL, NJ -- The Washington College women's rowing team won both the Division III varsity eight and Division III second varsity eight at the Knecht Cup, held Friday and Saturday on the Cooper River in New Jersey.

Racing against five other schools, including four fellow Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference members, Washington's varsity eight won the Division III event in 7:35.6. Mary Washington was second in 7:38.5, Marietta was third in 7:45.4, Rochester - the only non-MARC school in the race - was fourth in 7:58.4, Bryn Mawr was fifth in 8:18.9, and Johns Hopkins was sixth in 8:27.4.

Junior Krista Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's first varsity eight. Junior Ericka Malow (Brunswick, OH/Brunswick) sat stroke, senior Jenna Lapointe (Newark, DE/Newark) was in the seven seat, sophomore Sarah Holland (Towson, MD/Notre Dame Prep) was in the six seat, junior Amy Smith (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) sat in the five seat, junior Emily Hofler (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) was in the four seat, freshman Kendall Mulligan (Southbury, CT/Westover School) sat in the three seat, senior Nicole Rousseau (Burlington, CT/Miss Porter's School) was in the two seat, and freshman Ellen Liebenow (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) was the bow.

The Shorewomen's second varsity eight won the Division III event in 8:14.7. Mary Washington was second in 8:15.3 and Bryn Mawr was third in 8:55.9.

Freshman Kelsie Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was the coxswain for the Shorewomen's second first varsity eight. Junior Caroline Perry (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) sat stroke, sophomore Christine Lynch (Lincoln University, PA/Avon Grove) was in the seven seat, sophomore Catherine Black (Kimberton, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) sat in the six seat, freshman Sarah Ruh (New Preston, CT/Kent School) was in the five seat, freshman Diane Hagmann (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) sat in the four seat, junior Sarah Strickland (Potomac, MD/Holton-Arms) ) was in the three seat, freshman Jenna Moore (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) sat in the two seat, and sophomore Robin Heese (Baltimore, MD/Maryvale Prep) was the bow.

The Shorewomen return to action in two weeks at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships, in York, PA.
