#15 Shorewomen Open Season
at Rollins Spring Break Race

WINTER PARK, FL -- The 15th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team opened its spring season this morning at the Rollins University Spring Break Race on Lake Maitland in Winter Park, FL. The Shorewomen were second in the varsity four "B" race, fourth in the varsity eight, and fourth in varsity four "A" race.

The Shorewomen's varsity four "B" boat finished the course in 8:15.8. Central Florida won the race on 8:01.6. The Shorewomen's varsity eight finished in 7:24.0. Central Florida's "A" boat won the varsity eight in 7:02.9. The Shorewomen's varsity four "A" boat finished in 8:26.4. Central Florida won the varsity four "A" race in 7:54.1

Sophomore Krista Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) served as coxswain of the Shorewomen's varsity eight. Junior Jenna Lapointe (Newark, DE/Newark) sat stroke, sophomore Ericka Malow (Brunswick, OH/Brunswick) was in the seven seat, junior Carol Funck (Etters, PA/Red Land) was in the six seat, senior Laura Ratz (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) sat in the five seat, sophomore Caroline Perry (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) was in the four seat, freshman Sarah Holland (Towson, MD/Notre Dame Prep) sat in the three seat, freshman Catherine Black (Kimberton, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) was in the two seat, and junior Nicole Rousseau (Burlington, CT/Miss Porter's School) was the bow.

Senior Shelley Holtmann (Laurel, MD/Atholton) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's "A" boat in the varsity four. Sophomore Emily Hofler (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) sat stroke, senior Courtney Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was in the three seat, junior Jamie Beaber (Littleton, CO/Littleton) sat in the two seat, and sophomore Amy Smith (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) was the bow.

Freshman Susanne Vaughn (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's "B" boat in the varsity four. Perry sat stroke, Holland was in the three seat, Black was in the two seat, and freshman Christine Lynch (Lincoln University, PA/Avon Grove) was the bow.

The Shorewomen return to action March 29th when they host the Caspersen Cup on the Chester River.
