2009 SAN ANTONIO, TX -- The Washington College women's lacrosse team raced out to a 13-4 halftime lead en route to a 22-5 victory over Salve Regina University this afternoon in a game played in San Antonio, TX. Senior midfielder Brittany Lambert (Riva, MD/South River) scored three goals and assisted on three others in the win as 12 different Shorewomen (3-1) found the back of the net. Senior attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) scored a game-high four goals for the Shorewomen, while freshman attacker Rachel Bartee (Mount Airy, MD/South Carroll) netted three goals. Junior midfielder Allie Hanzsche (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) added two goals and two assists, while sophomore midfielder Sam Ohrem (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) and sophomore midfielder Liz Cumberpatch (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) each scored two goals as well. Sophomore attacker Sarah Cannon (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep), freshman defender Caroline Stanley (Freeland, MD/Hereford), freshman attacker Kalli Parrish (Timonium, MD/McDonogh School), and freshman attacker Ann Eickelberg (Amityville, NY/St. John the Baptist) each scored one goal and had one assist for the Shorewomen. Junior attacker Catherine Habel (Gaithersburg, MD/Watkins Mill) and freshman attacker Hannah Lindecke (Peapack, NJ/Bernards) each scored one goal, while freshman defender Brooke Paulshock (Forest Hill, MD/C. Milton Wright) tallied one assist. Nicole Viola led the Seahawks (0-2) with a pair of goals, while Lucia Graves, Nicole Fecteau, and Erika Curtin each scored one goal. Washington held a 33-12 advantage in shots in the game and controlled 20 of the game's 29 draws. Washington's 22 goals represented the most the Shorewomen have scored in a single game since putting up a school record-tying 24 in a win over Muhlenberg on March 27th, 2004. The 17-goal margin of victory was one off the school record set during a 21-3 win over Swarthmore on March 18th, 1991. The Shorewomen return to action one week from today with a 7:00 p.m. home game against Wooster. |
