Shorewomen Dry Up Lakers, 17-6
Washington Scores Seven Goals in First 6:48

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- The Washington College women's lacrosse team scored seven unanswered goals in the first 6:48 of the game and never looked back en route to a 17-6 win over Oswego State today in San Antonio, TX. The Shorewomen improved to 2-1 with the win, while the Lakers fell to 1-1 with the loss.

Freshman attacker Rachel Bartee (Mount Airy, MD/South Carroll) opened the scoring 1:41 into the game on a free-position goal. Senior midfielder Brittany Lambert (Riva, MD/South River) scored Washington's seventh goal when she fired in her second of the game with 23:12 to play in the first half. Washington's lead grew to 11-1 before the Lakers scored the final two goals of the half to trim the margin to 11-3 at the intermission. The Shorewomen scored the first three goals of the second half to make it 14-3 and the two teams then traded goals the rest of the way to account for the final margin.

Four Shorewomen scored three goals each in the win, led by Lambert who finished with three goals and two assists. Sophomore midfielder Liz Cumberpatch (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) added three goals and one assist, while Bartee and senior attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) each netted three goals. Junior midfielder Allie Hanzsche (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) contributed one goal and a game-high five assists, while sophomore midfielder Sam Ohrem (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) recorded three assists and junior midfielder Whitney Donald (Kingsville, MD/John Carroll) scored two goals. Freshman attackers Liza Twilley (Salisbury, MD/Salisbury School) and Kalli Parrish (Timonium, MD/McDonogh School) scored one goal each.

WC sophomore goalie Amber Madore (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) played the first 50:36 in goal for the Shorewomen and made 14 saves while allowing five goals.

Rachel Ventresca led Oswego State with a goal and three assists, while Andrea Musso had one goal and one assist. Jessica Zenzel, Kristen Darcy, Bri Borrow, and Kelly Schroeder each scored one goal.

Washington held a 35-21 advantage in shots in the game, including a 23-10 margin in the first half.

The Shorewomen return to action tomorrow with a 2:30 p.m. Central game against Salve Regina in San Antonio.
