2009 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Fourth-ranked Franklin & Marshall jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead en route to an 18-2 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory over host Washington College on a rainy afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Diplomats improve to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in Centennial play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 5-7 and 0-6 with the loss. F&M held a 27-4 advantage in shots in the first half and a 36-10 advantage in the game. The Diplomats also controlled 18 of the game's 22 draws. Shannon Summers scored two goals and assisted on six others to pace the Diplomat offense. Jen Pritchard and Ashley Bevington each added a goal and an assist, while Meredith Lussier, Laura Ruppersberger, and Sarah Grzybinski scored two goals each. Lidia Sanza made five saves without allowing a goal in the first 42:37 for F&M. Sophomore midfielder Liz Cumberpatch (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) and freshman attacker Kalli Parrish (Timonium, MD/McDonogh) each scored one goal for Washington, while sophomore midfielder Caitlin Morrison tallied an assist. WC sophomore goalie Amber Madore (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) made 12 saves. The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Bryn Mawr. |
