2009 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Dickinson College scored seven of the game's first eight goals en route to a 16-8 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory over visiting Washington College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Red Devils improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 4-2 and 0-1 with the loss. After an early 1-1 tie, Dickinson ran off six unanswered goals to take a 7-1 lead on a goal by Abby Larson off an assist from Amy Jennings with 12:10 left in the first half. The Red Devils led by at least four goals the rest of the way. Dickinson led by as many as 10 goals after scoring six of the first seven goals in the second half. Lexie Kob fired in a game-high six goals for the Red Devils, while Sunnie Ko added four goals and Larson and Blair Thompson each scored two. Kelsey Muir and Dana Bunting added one goal each. Jennings tallied three assists for Dickinson, while Taryn Abbassian had two and Lucy West had one. Senior attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) led the Shorewomen with three goals, while freshman attacker Kalli Parrish (Timonium, MD/McDonogh School) scored two goals and assisted on another. Sophomore midfielder Liz Cumberpatch (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis), sophomore midfielder Sam Ohrem (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield), and freshman attacker Liza Twilley (Salisbury, MD/Salisbury School) each scored one goal for the Shorewomen, while senior midfielder Brittany Lambert (Riva, MD/South River) notched two assists. Jessie Clark made 13 saves for Dickinson in the win, while WC sophomore goalie Amber Madore (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) made 13 in the loss for the Shorewomen. Dickinson held a 35-32 advantage in shots in the game. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. home game against Rowan. |
