2008 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Host Washington College jumped out to a 9-2 halftime lead en route to a 14-5 win over visiting Frostburg State in a non-conference women's lacrosse game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen evened their 2008 record at 1-1 with the win, while the Bobcats fell to 0-1. Junior midfielder Brittany Lambert (Riva, MD/South River) led a balanced scoring effort for the Shorewomen, netting three goals. Junior attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) and freshman attacker Sarah Cannon (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) each had two goals and one assist, while freshman midfielder Sam Ohrem (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) netted two goals and freshman midfielder Page Allen (Annapolis, MD/Calverton School) had one goal and two assists. Senior midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) and senior attacker Megan Rainey (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding) finished with one goal and one assist each. Freshman attacker Liz Cumberpatch (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) and junior midfielder Shiori Tachiwana (Sagamihara, Japan/Gaigo) scored one goal each and sophomore midfielder Allie Hanzsche (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) recorded one assist. Elizabeth Hildebrand led Frostburg State with two goals, while Lindsey Lamont added one goal and three assists. Megan Dent-Carman and Carly Rihard each scored one goal and Lindsay Chaffman and Meredith Martin tallied one assist each for the Bobcats. Washington enjoyed a 40-18 advantage in shots in the game. WC freshman goalie Amber Madore (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) made nine saves in the win, while Frostburg goalie Erin Morrell made 16 stops. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. game at Notre Dame (MD). |
