5, 2009 ASHLAND, VA -- Junior attack Danielle Rosato (Narvon, PA/Pequea Valley) scored one goal in each half to give visiting Washington College a 2-0 victory over host Randolph-Macon in non-conference field hockey action this afternoon in Ashland, VA. The Shorewomen improved to 1-1 with the win, while the Yellow Jackets, who were playing their season opener, fell to 0-1. Rosato put the Shorewomen on the board with a goal with 1:52 left in the first half and made it 2-0 when she scored off an assist from senior attack Kelsey Kemp (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) with 6:30 remaining in the second half. Senior goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) made one save in the shutout win for the Shorewomen, while Kortney McLaughlin made seven stops in the loss for Randolph-Macon. Washington held a 19-11 advantage in shots in the game. The Shorewomen return to action tomorrow with a 3:00 p.m. game at 14th-ranked Christopher Newport.
