13, 2009 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Host Washington College broke the Centennial Conference and school records for margin of victory, broke the school record for goals in a game, and tied the conference record for goals in a game with a 14-0 win over visiting Bryn Mawr in a Centennial Conference field hockey game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen improved to 2-2 overall by winning their conference opener, while the Owls fell to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Senior attack Kelsey Kemp (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) scored three goals and assisted on another in the win, while junior attack Danielle Rosato (Narvon, PA/Pequea Valley) contributed two goals and two assists and sophomore attack Emily Trees (Kensington, MD/Connelly School of the Holy Child) tallied a goal and three assists. Sophomore attack Gussie Reilly (Buck Hill Falls, PA/Mercersburg Academy) scored her first career goal in the win and also registered an assist. In addition to Reilly, five other Shorewomen scored their first career goals in the game: freshman attack Gabby Tarbert (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright), junior attack Rachel Sunday (Frederick, MD/Walkersville), freshman midfielder Hilary Manion (Trappe, PA/Archbishop Carroll), freshman attack Melissa Rubacky (Dover, DE/Dover), and freshman defender Jess Magdeburger (Baltimore, MD/Friends School). Freshman midfielder Kristen Wille (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) recorded her first career assist. Sophomore midfielder Chelsea Collison (Bridgeville, DE/Woodbridge) and senior midfielder Kelly Tancredi (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) each added a goal to round out Washington's scoring, while junior defender Sara Rutkowski (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) added one assist. Washington held a 7-0 lead less than 19 minutes into the game, a 9-0 lead at halftime, and a 13-0 lead with 21:50 remaining in the contest. The Shorewomen held a 39-1 advantage in shots and a 14-0 advantage in penalty corners. Senior goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) played the first 18:43 of the game for Washington before being relieved by junior goalkeeper Shannon Davis (Sykesville, MD/Liberty). Davis saved the Owls' only shot of the game. Manya Steinfeld had a defensive save for the Owls. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Toft made 12 saves in the cage for Bryn Mawr. The Shorewomen's 14-goal output matched the 14 goals scored by Ursinus in the Bears' 14-1 win over the Shorewomen on November 8th, 2008, in a Centennial Conference semifinal game. The 13-goal margin of victory in that game was tied for the old conference record with a 13-0 Ursinus win over Bryn Mawr on September 25th, 2007, and Washington's 13-0 victory over College of Notre Dame on September 1st, 2007. The Shorewomen return to action Friday with a 3:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Muhlenberg.
