20, 2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Junior attack/midfielder Jaimie Barlow (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) scored two goals, including the game-winner, to lead host Washington College to a 3-2 Centennial Conference field hockey win over visiting McDaniel this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen improved to 5-10 overall and 1-7 in conference play with the win, while the Green Terror slipped to 5-11 and 3-5. Barlow won a battle for a loose ball in the circle with a McDaniel defender and scored the first goal of the game with 8:56 left in the first half to put the Shorewomen ahead, 1-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) made a pair of saves in the finals of the half to preserve the 1-0 lead at intermission. The Green Terror tied the score when Kristin Melee redirected in a ball from Brooke Dixon with 33:30 left in the second half. Washington freshman attack Danielle Rosato (Narvon, PA/Pequa Valley) put the Shorewomen back in front when she redirected in a ball sent from the edge of the circle by freshman midfielder/defender Sarah Garber (Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) with 11:17 remaining. McDaniel knotted up the score once again as Maggie Kirwan sent a cross in front of the goal that was knocked in by Jamie Smith. Barlow scored the game-winner with 5:02 on the clock when she knocked in a loose ball. Washington held a 16-9 advantage in shots in the game, including a 12-4 advantage in the second half. The Shorewomen also held a 16-6 advantage in penalty corners, including an 11-2 difference in the second half. Nicholoff made five saves in the win for Washington, while Erika Wawzyanick made eight stops for McDaniel. The Shorewomen return to action Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Bryn Mawr.
