Shorewomen Bear Down on Ursinus, 76-49
Tait Scores 23 Points as WC Moves to 3-0 for First Time in 13 Years

COLLEGEVILLE, PA – Freshman guard Meghan Tait (Oxford, PA/Oxford Area) scored a career-high 23 points as visiting Washington College ended a nine-game losing streak to host Ursinus College in emphatic fashion, posting a 76-49 win for the Shorewomen's largest-ever margin of victory over the Bears. Washington (3-0, 1-0 Centennial) won its conference opener for the first time in 10 years and is now off to its best start since opening the 1995-96 season with four straight victories.

Washington never trailed in the game and went on an 18-1 run in the first half, capped off by a Tait three-pointer with 3:01 remaining in the period which gave the Shorewomen a 34-15 advantage. By the intermission, the visitors had built a 42-21 lead. Washington led by at least 21 points throughout the second half and twice built 31-point leads.

Tait scored her 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, including 3-of-5 shooting from beyond the three-point arc, and 2-of-4 at the free-throw line. Tait also handed out six assists and swiped three steals in the win. Sophomore forward Nicole Wojtusik (Washington Boro, PA/Penn Manor) added a career-high 13 points and six rebounds, while junior guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) chipped in 11 points and junior guard Jessica Jamrogowicz (Marlton, NJ/Bishop Eustace) contributed eight points and six assists.

Jaclyn Hilf led Ursinus with 13 points, while Carolyn Konstanzer added 11 points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Washington shot 52% from the field and 5-of-11 from three-point range in the game. The Shorewomen were 17-of-29 (58.6%) from the field in the first half. Ursinus shot 36% for the game. The Shorewomen also outrebounded the Bears, 42-26, including a 16-10 margin on the offensive end.

Washington's last win over Ursinus was a 71-60 home win on January 18, 2003. The Shorewomen had not won in Collegeville since a 68-56 triumph on January 12, 2002, having since dropped five in a row at Ursinus.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Dickinson.
