Shorewomen Sprint Past Blazers, 86-52
Highest Scoring Output for WC Since 2002

CHESTERTOWN, MD – The Washington College women's basketball team extended its program-best start to 6-1 with its highest scoring output in nearly seven years, defeating visiting Hood College, 86-52, in non-conference action tonight at Cain Athletic Center. All five starters reached double figures in scoring for the Shorewomen in the victory.

Washington broke the game open early as Hood scored the first two baskets of the game, but the Shorewomen then fired off a 24-1 run to take a 24-3 lead with 11:32 left in the first half. Washington held a 41-24 lead at halftime and saw the lead grow to as large as 43 points in the second half.

The eighty-six points are the most the Shorewomen have scored in a single game since an 88-54 win over Haverford on January 19, 2002.

Senior guard Brianne Slizofski (Collegeville, PA/Pius X) paced all scorers with 19 points and shared game-high rebounding honors by pulling down 10 boards. Junior guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) added 16 points, while junior forward Julie Sherwood (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) scored a career-high 13 points, brought down seven rebounds, and swiped a career-high six steals. Junior guard Jessica Jamrogowicz (Marlton, NJ/Bishop Eustace) also scored 13 points while dishing out seven assists against no turnovers. Freshman guard Meghan Tait (Oxford, PA/Oxford Area) scored 10 points, while freshman forward Meghan Lepley (Baldwin, MD/Baltimore Lutheran) scored seven points while collecting a career-high 10 rebounds, eight of them offensive.

Sara Wastler led Hood with 13 points, while Jen Willison and Allyson Lethbridge each scored 11. Willison also brought down nine rebounds. Jessica Parrish finished with 10 points.

Washington forced 30 Hood turnovers in the game, racking up 18 steals as a team and resulting in 39 points off turnovers. The Shorewomen also canned 12 three-point baskets in 29 attempts and held a 42-20 advantage on the boards, including a 22-5 edge on the offensive end.

The Shorewomen return to action Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. home game against Valley Forge Christian.
