McDaniel Runs Past Washington, 68-45
Conway Becomes Washington's Single-Season Steals Leader

WESTMINSTER, MD – Robbin Gregg scored a game-high 15 points to lead host McDaniel College past visiting Washington College, 68-45, on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference women's basketball action at the Gill Center. The Green Terror improved to 12-11 overall and 11-6 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 9-14 and 6-10 with the loss.

McDaniel opened the game shooting 15-for-21 from the floor and went on to shoot 60% from the field in the first half to take a 37-26 lead at halftime. The Green Terror jumped out to a 20-10 lead in the first 7:27 capped by Whitney Snoops layup. The Shorewomen would answer with a 12-6 run to cut the McDaniel lead to 26-22 on a three-point bucket with 7:02 left in the opening half by sophomore guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic).

McDaniel took control of the tilt with a 34-12 run that spanned both halves. The hosts closed out the final 7:02 of the first stanza on a 11-4 spurt and opened the second half on a 23-8 run to take a 60-34 lead with 9:15 left in the contest. The run was capped by a fast-break layup by Gregg.

McDaniel got 14 points from Kim Staub and 10 points from Courtney Gogolinski. Gregg and Ali Moreland each dished out a game-best five assists.

For the Shorewomen, senior guard Elise Conway (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) and O'Donnell led the way with 14 points each. Conway led all players with six steals and became Washington's single-season steals leader 4:44 into the game when she recorded her 69th steal of the season by forcing a turnover from McDaniel's Staub. She now has 74 steals on the season. Freshman forward Nicole Wojtusik (Washington Manor, PA/Penn Boro) recorded a game-high eight rebounds.

For the game, the Green Terror had a 49% field goal shooting percentage, while Washington shot just 33% from the field. McDaniel outscored the Shorewomen, 36-18, in the paint, while Washington edged the Green Terror on second-chance points, 16-13. The Shorewomen held a slim 38-35 edge on the boards.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. Centennial Conference contest versus Swarthmore in the home finale.
