Shorewomen Sweep Doubles, Win All Singles Matches in Straight Sets

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — The host Washington College women's tennis team picked up its first victory of the season by rolling to a 9-0 win over Goucher today inside the Johnson Fitness Center.

- Julie Lazer and Rachel Martinez rolled to an 8-0 win over Miranda Egan-Brooks and Ali Gorson-Morrow at No. 1.
- Riley Katzman and Ella Samer followed with an 8-2 victory against Morgan Hartman and Meera Balasubramania at No. 3.
- Krista Filiopoulos and Sarah Bruno finished the Washington sweep with an 8-3 victory over Mackenzie Donohue and Kyoko Konoshita at No. 2.   

- Filiopoulos picked up the Shorewomen's fourth point with a 6-0, 6-0, win over Donohue at No. 3.
- Samer followed by completing a 6-1, 6-0, victory over Konoshita at No. 4 to clinch the match win for the Shorewomen.
- Martinez added a 6-0, 6-0, win against Egan-Brooks at No. 2, Lazer beat Gorson-Morrow, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1, Kiran Pant beat Balasubramanian, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 6, and Bruno downed Katie Marzerka, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5

- The Shorewomen improved to 1-1 with the win, while the Gophers fell to 1-4 with the loss.
