Women's Tennis Names Team Captains

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Washington College head women's tennis coach Oliver Reynolds has announced that the team's five seniors — Krista Filiopoulos (Millersville, Md./Annapolis Area Christian), Julie Lazer (Owings MIlls, Md./McDonogh School), Rachel Martinez (Los Angeles, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula), Kiran Pant (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron), and Paige Rebstock (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) — will serve as team captains this season.

Filiopoulos is serving as a captain for the second straight season. She is a two-time All-Centennial selection in singles and one-time selection in doubles. She was named a 2015 ITA Scholar-Athlete, landed on the 2016 Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, was twice chosen for the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team, and is a former Shorewoman of the Week. She has a career singles record of 44-14 and a career doubles mark of 39-21. She played third singles and second doubles for the Shorewomen last season.

Lazer is a three-time All-Centennial Conference selection in both singles and doubles. She was named the team's MVP last season and Most Improved Player the year before that. She is a former Centennial Conference Player of the Week and two-time former Shorewoman of the Week. She has a career singles record of 37-15 and a career doubles mark of 43-16. She played first singles and first doubles for the Shorewomen last season.

Martinez is a two-time All-Centennial Conference selection in both singles and doubles. She is also a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and two-time Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll qualifier and a former Shorewoman of the Week. She has a career singles record of 42-14 and a career doubles record of 40-19. She played second singles and first doubles for the Shorewomen last season.

Pant is serving as a captain for the second year in a row. She is a two-time Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll qualifier and was chosen as a 2015 ITA Scholar-Athlete. She was also named the team's Most Improved Player in 2015. She has a career singles record of 12-14 and a career doubles mark of 8-16. She played fifth singles and third doubles for the Shorewomen last season.

Rebstock joined the team last season and played in three matches at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles last spring.

The Shorewomen are scheduled to open their dual-match schedule with a home match against Division I Delaware State on March 2nd.
