Evans Named to All-Sportsmanship Team
LANCASTER, Pa. -- Washington College sophomore tennis players April Weaver (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) and Marielle McIntyre (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) have both earned All-Centennial Conference honors in singles and doubles in a vote conducted by the conference's 11 head coaches. Weaver was named to the first team for singles, while McIntyre was named to the second team. The duo landed on the first team for doubles.
Weaver, ranked 14th in the most recent Atlantic South regional rankings, posted a 15-5 singles record this year, including a 12-4 mark at No. 1 in dual matches. She went 7-3 against conference opponents and 2-2 against regionally-ranked players this spring. Last season, Weaver was the conference's Rookie of the Year land earned second-team honors in singles and honorable mention in doubles.
Weaver and McIntyre are currently ranked 14th in the region in doubles. They went 12-4 at No. 1 this season with an 8-2 record against Centennial Conference opponents.
In singles play this year, McIntyre went 12-7, including an 8-7 mark at No. 2 in dual matches. She was 5-5 in conference matches.
Junior Emily Evans (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) represented the Shorewomen on the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. Each Centennial Conference member institution was permitted to nominate one student from each spring program who exemplifies the best in sportsmanship for the All-Sportsmanship Team. Nominations were submitted by the athletic departments or head coaches.
