SKILLMAN, N.J. -- Washington College sophomore women's tennis player April Weaver (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) will open the spring season ranked 10th in the Atlantic South region in singles. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently released its preseason rankings.
Weaver went 11-6 at No. 1 singles last spring for the Shorewomen, including an 8-2 mark in Centennial Conference play, and was named the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year. She was also named to the All-Centennial Conference second team in singles and an All-Centennial Conference honorable mention in doubles. This fall, she advanced to the singles quarterfinals of the ITA Southeast Regional Championships.
Weaver is the third-highest ranked player from the Centennial Conference, following Amanda Austi and Sydney Lehman, both of Johns Hopkins, who are ranked fourth and sixth in the region, respectively.
