Knights Spoil Shorewomen's Opener, 1-0

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Neumann University spoiled the season opener for host Washington College, defeating the Shorewomen, 1-0, in a non-conference women's soccer game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.

Neumann (1-1) took a 1-0 lead at the 6:35 mark when Olivia Pryzbylkowski fired a loose ball into the upper left corner of the goal. The Knights held a 9-5 advantage in shots in the half, running off seven in a row after the Shorewomen had the first shot of the game.

Washington held a 6-4 advantage in shots in the second half but could not find the equalizer. Senior midfielder Gabby Devaud (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) led the Shorewomen with three shots in the game.

Jacqueline McAllister made nine saves in the win for Neumann; senior goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) made seven saves for the Shorewomen.

The Shorewomen are back in action Thursday with a 4:00 p.m. game at Immaculata.
