Five Straight! Shorewomen Capture Fifth Straight MARC Championship, Fifth Straight NCAA Bid

Hughes Named Women's Coach of the Year, Three Shorewomen Named All-MARC, Five Named Academic All-MARC

LEWISBERRY, Pa. — The 13th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team won its fifth consecutive Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) title, securing its fifth straight automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship, by winning both scoring races (the first and second varsity eights) at the MARC Championships on Pinchot Lake in Lewisberry, Pa., today. In addition, first-year Shorewomen head coach Kari Hughes was named MARC Women's Coach of the Year, three Shorewomen were named All-MARC, and five Shorewomen were named Academic All-MARC.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen's first varsity eight won its heat in 7:26.1 to advance to the grand final. Johnson & Wales was second in the heat in 7:56.1, while Cabrini was third in 8:38.6. In the grand final, the Shorewomen's winning time was 7:08.9. 15th-ranked Bryn Mawr was second in 7:20.0, Johnson & Wales third in 7:28.1, Franklin & Marshall fourth in 7:30.6, St. Mary's fifth in 7:51.5, and North Park sixth in 8:31.5.
- The Shorewomen's second varsity eight won its final in 7:43.7. F&M was second in 7:55.82, St. Mary's third in 8:18.4, and Johnson & Wales fourth in 8:36.9.
- The Shorewomen's third varsity eight won the four-boat women's third varsity/novice eight in 8:00.3. Franklin & Marshall was second in 8:29.2, St. Mary's third in 8:46.4, and Cabrini fourth in 9:03.7.

MARC Award Winners
- Morrissette and Shipps were named to the All-MARC Varsity Team, while Robb was chosen for the the All-MARC Novice Team.
- Morrissette also joined Booth, Creitz, Huston Hakey, and McCloskey on the MARC Academic All-Conference Team.
