Shorewomen Eights Both Place Third in Petite Finals at Kerr Cup

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Washington College women's rowing team competed at the Kerr Cup on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia today. The Shorewomen's first varsity eight competed in the women's varsity eight against Division I and II crews, finishing third in the petite final. Their second varsity eight competed in the Division III women's varsity eight, also placing third in that petite final.

How It Happened
- Competing against Division I crews, the first varsity eight placed third in its heat of the varsity eight in 7:01.17 to advance to the petite final. Fordham won the heat in 6:42.09, Lehigh was second in 6:47.75, Fairfield fourth in 7:06.43, and Stetson fifth in 7:12.00. The first varsity eight's third-place time in the petite final was 7:02.38, racing against Division II Philadelphia U and four Division I crews. Villanova won the race in 6:50.06, Marist was second in 6:58.97, Philadelphia U fourth in 7:02.79, Fairfield fifth in 7:07.82, and La Salle sixth in 7:12.16.
- The second varsity eight placed fourth in their heat of the Division III varsity eight in 7:42.93 to advance to the petite final. Rochester's first varsity eight won the race in 7:05.41, Franklin & Marshall's second varsity eight was second in 7:35.85, Haverford's first varsity eight was third in 7:41.22, and St. Mary's second varsity eight was fifth in 7:43.82. In the petite final, the second varsity eight was third in 7:48.57. St. Mary's first varsity eight won the petite final in 7:23.25, NYU was second in 7:40.50, Bryn Mawr's second varsity eight was fourth in 7:56.68, and Haverford's second varsity eight was fifth in 8:39.39. Haverford's first varsity eight was scratched from the race.
