#9 Shorewomen Finish 2nd Overall at MARC Championships

Shorewomen Finish Second in Varsity Eight & Second Varsity Eight

LEWISBERRY, PA -- The ninth-ranked Washington College women's rowing team finished second overall at the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships today at Gifford Pinchot State Park in Lewisberry, PA. The Shorewomen finished with a total of 32 points in the two scoring events - the varsity eight and second varsity eight. Seventh-ranked Marietta won championship with 37 points, Franklin & Marshall was third with 27, Bryn Mawr fourth with 20, North Park fifth with 19, Mary Washington sixth with 14, and Richard Stockton seventh with 11.

The Shorewomen's varsity eight won its four-boat heat in 6:56.6 to advance to the final. Franklin & Marshall was second in 7:04.2, Mary Washington third in 7:33.7, and Richard Stockton fourth in 7:35.2. In the final, Marietta won in 6:43.1, while the Shorewomen were second in 6:49.9. Franklin & Marshall was third in 7:05.4, Bryn Mawr fourth in 7:06.3, North Park fifth in 7:42.6, and Mary Washington sixth in 7:57.6.

The Shorewomen's second varsity eight was second in its four-boat race in 7:11.5. Marietta was first in 7:05.1, Franklin & Marshall was third in 7:51.6, and North Park was fourth in 8:12.7.

Senior Kelsie Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's varsity eight. Freshman Kelly Bird (Galloway, NJ/Absegami) sat stroke, senior Kendall Mulligan (Southbury, CT/Westover School) was in the seven seat, freshman Taira Sullivan (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) was in the six seat, sophomore Valeria DiLisi (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) sat in the five seat, junior Kate Fiori (Boston, MA/Dana Hall School) was in the four seat, sophomore Elizabeth Hilton (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) sat in the three seat, freshman Ashley Myles (Chester Springs, PA/Owen J. Roberts) was in the two seat, and junior Rachel Benders (Cleveland Heights, OH/Beaumont School) was the bow.

Freshman Samantha Mason (Preston, CT/Norwich Free Academy) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's second varsity eight. Junior Lauren Halla (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) sat stroke, freshman Krystal Brostek (Galloway, NJ/Absegami) was in the seven seat, freshman Mickey Fili (Sparks, MD/Hereford) was in the six seat, freshman Rachel Dilliplane (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) sat in the five seat, sophomore Emily Sahadeo (College Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton) was in the four seat, sophomore Allie Everhart (New Market, MD/Linganore) was in the three seat, sophomore Katherine McCarthy (Valley Forge, PA/Conestoga) sat in the two seat, and sophomore Carly Ogren (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) was the bow.
