CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Senior forward Brynne Brouse (Slatington, Pa./Parkland), senior guards Jordan Weir (Washington, D.C./Westtown [Pa.]) and Gabby Winsky (Davidsonville, Md./Severn School), and sophomore guard Caitlyn Clark (Media, Pa./Notre Dame de Namur) will serve as the captains of the Washington College women's basketball team this season. Head coach Alisha Mosley shared the news with her team last night.
Brouse is a two-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll and a two-time member of the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. She has made 48 career starts in 72 career games for the Shorewomen. Winsky is another two-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll. She made her first 10 collegiate starts last season and has played in 52 career games. Weir is also a two-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll. She was named her team's Most Improved Player in 2016, is a former Shorewoman of the Week, and has made 34 starts in 63 career games.
Clark, the lone underclassman to serve as a captain this season, averaged a team-best 3.3 assists per game last season and finished third on the team in scoring at 6.4 points per game. She made 21 starts in 25 games as a freshman and was named Shorewoman of the Week.
The Shorewomen tip off their 2017-18 season tonight with a 5:30 p.m. game against Goucher at the Dan Greene Memorial Invitational, hosted by St. Mary's (Md.). The Shorewomen will play the host Seahawks at the tournament tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
