Tait Selected to Play for All-Star Team During 2011 Tour of Italy
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College junior women's basketball captain Meghan Tait (Oxford, PA/Oxford Area) has been selected to play on a team of collegiate all-stars from around the United States during the 2011 American International Sports Tours (AIST) Italy Basketball Tournament.
The AIST Italy Basketball Tournament will take place during an 11-day tour of Italy from late May until early June. The tournament will consist of the team of U.S. players playing against two to three local club teams in Como, Italy. The team of U.S. players will also play exhibition games in Florence and San Marino.
Tait, the Shorewomen's starting point guard, was named the Shorewomen's 2010 Most Valuable Player and landed on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll. She averaged 11.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and a Centennial Conference-leading 5.4 assists per game while starting all 25 games. Her game-winning three-pointer in the Shorewomen's 59-58 win at Ursinus was chosen as one of the top five Division III women's buzzer beaters of the year.
For her career, Tait has averaged 10.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 50 games. She led the Centennial Conference in three-point field-goal percentage (39.7%) as a freshman and is a career 39.5% shooter from beyond the arc.
In addition to Como, Florence, and San Marino, the tour is also scheduled to visit Rome, Vatican City, Pisa, Montecatnii, Milan, and Bellagio.
