Green Terror Take Two From Shorewomen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Visiting McDaniel College swept both ends of a Centennial Conference softball double-header from host Washington College this afternoon. The Green Terror won the first game, 4-3, in nine innings, and took the second game and took the second game, 8-0, in five innings due to the eight-run rule.

McDaniel 4, Washington College 3 (9 innings) (Game 1)

How It Happened
- Megan Coyle drew a bases-loaded walk to bring McDaniel's first run across in the top of the first. Maddie Bennett evened the score by driving in a run on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the frame. Regan Horan drew a bases-loaded walk to put Washington ahead, 2-1.
- The Green Terror tied things up in the top of the second courtesy of an RBI single by Tayler Hishon. McDaniel pulled in front, 3-2, in the top of  the fourth on a two-out single by Payton Lewis.
- Brittany Walker stole home for the Shorewomen in the bottom of the sixth to even the score at 3-3.  
- Alicia Wagner drove in what would prove to be the game-winning run with a single up the middle in the top of the ninth. 

For the Shorewomen (8-15, 1-4 Centennial Conference)
- Hitting: Allyson Meil (two hits, run); Gabrielle Edwards (two hits); Bennett (hit, walk, run, RBI); Horan (hit, walk, sacrifice bunt, RBI)

- Horan was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewomen Player of the Game.

McDaniel 8, Washington College 0 (5 innings) (Game 2)

How It Happened
- The Green Terror plated all eight runs in the top of the first inning as Washington committed four errors in the frame. Tori Wilkins drove in a run with a single, Hishon scored on a wild pitch, Wagner hit a two-run single, Persinger walked with the bases loaded, two runs scored on a two-out error, and Scardina stole home on a delayed double steal.  
- Washington was hitless until Horan led off the bottom of the fifth with an infield single.

For the Shorewomen (8-16, 1-5 Centennial Conference)
- Hitting: Horan (hit), Bennett (walk), Grace Moery (walk)
- Pitching: Rachel Butler (loss, 4 innings, 4 hits, 8 runs, 1 earned run, 5 walks, 3 strikeouts); Bennett (1 inning, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks)
