Lister to be Inducted into Salisbury University Athletics Hall of Fame

SALISBURY, Md. — Washington College head softball coach Lacey Lister has been selected for induction into Salisbury University's Athletics Hall of Fame, recognizing one of the most outstanding collegiate pitching careers in Division III history.

Lister, a 2006 graduate of Salisbury, is one of four former student-athletes selected for this year's induction, which will take place on Friday, October 6th.

[From Salisbury's press release] "Lister was one of the most decorated players in school history, earning All-American honors in all four years with the softball program. She was named to the All-CAC First Team all four years as a starting pitcher, being named the Rookie of the Year in 2003 and the league's Player of the Year in her final three seasons in maroon and gold. She continues to lead the program in pitching victories and strikeouts in a career and is ninth in NCAA Division III history in career wins and her 1,096 career strikeouts are 11th in Division III history."

Lister's winning ways have continued as head coach of the Washington College softball team, a program which had had just one winning season in the 11 years preceding her becoming head coach prior to the 2009 season. The Shorewomen have qualified for the four-team Centennial Conference Tournament six times in the past seven years after having qualified for it just once prior to Lister's arrival. Washington won its first-ever conference softball title in 2013 and was the top seed for the conference tournament in 2016. (That 2013 team will be recognized at Washington College's Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony on October 14th.) Lister has been named Centennial Conference Coach of the Year three times since 2011.
