Washington College Sailing Opens with 12th-Place Finish at Riley Cup

NORFOLK, Va. — The Washington College sailing team opened its regatta season with a 12th-place finish among 18 teams at Old Dominion's Riley Cup.

How It Happened
- Paul Hart skippered Washington to a 10th-place finish in A Division. He sailed with crew Ellie Lienert in races 1A, 2A, 5A, 6A, and races 9A-12A and with crew Bridgette Hindt in races 3A, 4A, 7A, and 8A. Hart and Lienert's fifth-place finish in race 5A was Washington's best divisional race finish of the weekend.
- Skipper Will Sunkler and crew Griffin Rodrigue sailed for Washington in B Division and finished 13th in the division. Their best race finish with eighth in race 5B.

Notes
- Eight A Division and six B Division races sailed on Saturday. Four A Division and six B Division races sailed on Sunday.

Weather
- Saturday saw a north-northeast wind of 12-20 miles per hour building to 15-25. Sunday's races sailed in a "blusterly Northerly," per the official regatta report.
