CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Washington College head men's tennis coach Oliver Reynolds has announced that the team's three seniors — John Niswander (Dunkirk, Md./Northern), Justin Panepinto (Cary, N.C./Middle Creek), and Luke Weaver (Chestertown, Md./Kent Count) — will serve as team captains this season.
Niswander was named a 2017 ITA Scholar-Athlete and was chosen for the 2017 Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. He has a 5-4 career singles record and a 4-1 career doubles mark.
Panepinto previously served as a team captain two years ago. A former Shoreman of the Week, he has a career singles record of 26-22 and a career doubles record of 32-27. He primarily played at second and third doubles last spring.
Weaver earned All-Centennial Conference honorable mention and ITA Scholar-Athlete status a year ago. He was also named the Shoremen's Most Improved Player each of the past two seasons and is a former Shoreman of the Week. He has a career 18-15 singles record and 21-10 doubles record. Last spring, he played primarily at third and fourth singles and second and third doubles.
The Shoremen are slated to open their dual-match schedule February 24th against 15th-ranked Case Western Reserve at a neutral site in Newport News, Va.
