Shoremen Compete at ITA Southeast Regionals

Weaver Reaches Semifinals of B2 Singles

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — The Washington College men's tennis team had three student-athletes compete at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships, hosted by Mary Washington, yesterday and today. Senior Luke Weaver (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) advanced to the semifinals in B2 Singles. 

ITA Southeast Regional Championships

Singles
- Chris Salisbury opened Championship Singles play with a 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (retired) win over Jiung Jung of Swarthmore. In the second round, he lost to Mary Washington's Patrick Hughes, 6-2, 6-0.
- Jake Sandler lost his first-round match in Championship Singles to Christopher Newport's David Reed, 6-2, 6-1. In his consolation match, he lost to Washington and Lee's Thomas Harmon, 4-6, 6-4, 10-2.
- Weaver opened B2 Singles play by winning his first-round match, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, over Jonathan White of Wilkes. In the quarterfinals, he defeated Salisbury's Matthew Ryan, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. In the semifinals, he fell to Robert Kresch of Haverford, 6-0, 6-0.

Doubles
- Sandler and Salisbury advanced to the second round in Championship Doubles by defeating Max Oberholtzer and Paul Vecchio of Ursinus, 8-4. In the second round, they lost to Washington and Lee's Charlie Kittredge and Harry Shepherd, 8-3.
