Shoremen Breeze Past Blue Jays, 104-42
Violette, Pollock Win Two Events Each
ELIZABETHTOWN, PA - Junior Matt Violette (Westbrook, ME/Westbrook) and senior Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military) each won two individual events as the Washington College men's swim team cruised to a 104-42 non-conference win over host Elizabethtown College this afternoon.
Violette won the 200 individual medley in 2:13.31 and the 100 backstroke in 1:00.10 for the Shoremen (3-3), while Pollock won the 50 freestyle in 24.18 and the 100 butterfly in 56.31. Senior Chris Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) captured the 200 freestyle in 1:59.58, sophomore Austin Auger (McLean, VA/Langley) won the 100 freestyle in 53.29, and Sophomore Nick Longworth (Media, PA/Strath Haven) took the 500 freestyle in 5:14.81. Longworth, Auger, Pollock, and Soper also won the 200 medley relay in 1:45.25.
Freshman A.J. Feurer (Kingsville, MD/Archbishop Curley) placed second in the 200 freestyle (2:03.87) and the 500 freestyle (5:26.56), while sophomore Johnny Helenek (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg) was second in the 200 individual medley (2:23.32).
Auger posted the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke, swimming a 1:13.09 as an exhibition entrant.
The Shoremen return to action one week from today with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home meet against Dickinson.
